Objectives
General Objectives
- To respond to all incoming Category A calls
- To respond to 80% of calls within 6 minutes and so arrive before other medical personnel in 40% of cases
- To have a sufficient number of members within each centre to be able to maintain a everyday service during the Medical School term time (the service will run throughout Medical School term-breaks but at a reduced capacity reflecting the reduced numbers of medical student residing within the centre area at these times).
Scheme Objectives
- To provide adequately trained First Responders to be able to deal with situations faced in a professional way fitting of Cardiff Medical School.
- After initial the centre is setup, consider the possibility of splitting the area into smaller centres to be able to provide a service with faster response times.
- Maintain a secured website to detail each centres weekly rota, information about upcoming training/re-training sessions, support material for the courses and a forum for members with concerns.
- For certain members to gain qualifications to be able to train new members and so making a self-sufficient society
Learning Objectives for Members
- To allow students to gain experience and understanding of life-saving emergency situations.
- To allow students to become proficient in life-saving techniques and protocols (i.e. life-support training)
- To allow students to go on call with ambulance crews within the Welsh Ambulance Service.
